Swarm Removal
Honey Bee Swarm Removal
LEAVE THE BEE SWARMS ALONE!!! Honeybee swarms are completely different then established hives If you have a Swarm on a tree, bush or shrub around your house they are just resting up. If they are not endangering anyone LEAVE THEM BEE!! Swarms for the most part are not aggressive when left alone and it is not always necessary to have them killed or even removed.
Most swarms land in trees to rest during their migration and look like a giant ball which is quite often mistaken for a hive. A honey bee Swarm can consist of thousand's of bee's and be very intimidating when they arrive as well as when they leave it all happens within minutes. Let them alone for 24 to 72 hours and chances are they will go away on there own. Keep an eye around your property to make sure they don't move in. If they land on the structure of your home or are coming and going in an eave or into the stucco or siding etc. or there is visible honeycomb on any structure around your property then they do need to be removed PROPERLY by Bee Removal experts. Otherwise save yourself some money and save some
Bees at the same time. Now why would I say all this because we are Beekeepers and Pest Control Companies are killing millions of bees UNNECESSARILY! Don't be another victim to Unnecessary Pest Control and harmful chemicals. Pass on the message "not all swarms need to be removed or exterminated and not all the valleys bees are Africanized". Now if you have a Swarm on your property and are concerned someone might antagonize the bees or that the bees might be a danger to the public then give us a Call and we will talk you through your options to get your problem resolved.
BEES SHOULD ALWAYS BE CONSIDERED DANGEROUS WHETHER IT IS A Swarm OR AN ESTABLISHED BEE COLONY. NEVER SHOULD ANYONE WHO HAS NOT HAD EXPERIENCE WITH BEES TRY TO REMOVE BEES OR SPRAY THEM WITH A HOSE. CAUTION SHOULD ALWAYS BE TAKEN WHEN DEALING WITH BEES. ALSO KEEP A GOOD DISTANCE FROM THE BEES AND LET THEM DO THEIR THING AND MOVE ALONG ON THEIR OWN. ALWAYS KEEP KIDS AND PETS AWAY FROM BEE SWARMS AND TRY NOT TO PROVOKE THE BEES IN ANY WAY.
Honeybees detect the need to swarm and start a new colony for one or more of the following reasons:
- The colony is too congested in their current hive. There is not enough room for the queen to lay more eggs and/or for the worker bees to store more honey and pollen in the honeycomb.
- The queen has become weak with age, so she is not laying enough eggs or giving off enough pheromone scent to properly control the colony. This condition may also trigger superseding, which does not usually result in swarming.
- The queen is missing.
- Prolonged periods of bad weather (rainfall, etc.) restrict the bees to the hive and cause congestion and lack of foraging activity.
- The queen is genetically defective, which can inactivate nurse bees, cause a higher genetic tendency to swarm, lower queen pheromone production, or cause poor egg-laying activity or sporadic egg-laying, resulting in an uneven distribution of honeybee castes. This condition may also trigger supersedure, which does not usually result in swarming.
- Poor ventilation, resulting in higher-than-normal moisture levels or temperatures inside the hive
- Lack of food or water supply.
- Disease or pest infestation; these conditions may also trigger superseding, which does not usually result in swarming.
