Wednesday, Apr. 6, 2011

A spokesman for the Yuma Fire Department says the attack occurred Monday. When paramedics arrived, they found the woman sitting on a sidewalk covered in bees.

The fire department says she was stung multiple times on her face and body.

Firefighters sprayed the victim with a foam mixture to remove a majority of the bees and keep them back while moving the victim. Paramedics began treating her immediately and she was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center.

Some of the rescuers were also stung by angry bees.

The Yuma Sun reports a witness said the woman was taking out the trash when the bees attacked.
